U-16 Coach, Jamie Tierney

U16 Head Coach & High Voltage Club Vice President, Jamie Tierney. Jamie was a standout player for James Monroe High School in the 1990s. Coach Tierney went on to play for Radford University. A walk-on there, Jamie was a 4-year starter, and Captain her senior year. She graduated with a degree in Sports Medicine in 2001 and returned to the Fredericksburg, VA area as the JV coach at her alma mater, James Monroe High School. In 2005 Coach Tierney took the reins as head coach of the varsity team, and quickly built the team’s reputation as an AA contender. In her first-year as head coach, the Yellow Jackets made it to the state of Virginia Semi-Finals. She lead the Yellow Jackets to a 2nd place finish in the State. In 2007 her team won the Battlefield District championship and she was named Coach of the Year. In 2008 Jamie again led her underdog team to a 2nd-place finish in the State. Coach Tierney has also built the field hockey program at the Fredericksburg Field House. The program which started with youth and adult recreational leagues has developed into a thriving, year-round program. In addition to her High Voltage and James Monroe coaching duties, Jamie remains active on the adult club circuit. |
